English Camp

 

English Camp is a biblically based educational camp for the children. The curriculum is developed to teach life skills as well as educational studies that the children do not receive at their normal Haitian school. Basic skills in spelling, reading, writing and math are all taught with special patience and guidance that allows these children to develop and experience a true learning environment. Most importantly, because this is biblically based, they are also given the opportunity to understand, develop and grow in faith!

   Camp Dates:                           June 29 through August 7
   Camper Information:                                      50 students
                                                                 Ages 5 through 16 
        *All levels of English speaking abilities
        *Some children are churched, some are not churched
   Camp Schedule:                          Monday through Friday
                                                             9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
   Camp Activities:                                                        Bible
                                                                                     Crafts
                                               Physical activities and games
                                                                      English lessons
                                                         Daily lunch and snacks
   Location:                                Byron and Shelley’s Home
                                                      Clercine 19 #16, Tabarre
   Cost to Campers:             250 gourdes, approx. $6.25 US
Purpose:
     • Minister God’s Word to children.
     • Provide children an opportunity to better understand and communicate in English.
     • Help provide children future career success in a world where speaking English is an advantage.
     • Provide constructive activities for children during summer vacation.
     • Provide a service for working parents who may otherwise leave their children home unsupervised.

     • Wisdom – for the best use of space and resources so we can accommodate as many campers as possible. 

     • Wisdom – for teaching God's Word and English lessons in ways which spark interest, interaction, and changed lives for the glory of God.

     • Volunteers – they see God's provision for this mission opportunity, their hearts are prepared for that which God has planned for them, and they remain healthy.

     • Provision – for expenses which are incurred on behalf of the campers, including port-o-potties, translators, cooks, lunch, snacks, ice, water and supplies.
     • Children will accept Christ as Savior, and share His love with their families and communities. 
How you can be involved:
     • Pray, pray, pray! Every day in Haiti brings new challenges and opportunities to show God’s grace. We want to respond as Christ would, and reflect His joy!
     • Send school supplies - folders, pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, crayons, scissors, rulers, etc.
     • Sponsor the camp - $100 covers expenses for one camper for the summer.
