The Men’s Ministry provides relationship-based outreach and bread baked at the Heartline Beltis Bakery to area prisons, hospitals, and an orphanage for children with disabilities. They endeavor to extend love where there is loneliness, feed hungry people, and stand in solidarity with the hurting.
We hope to give you a glimpse into what a week of ministry looks like for this dedicated group by sharing some of their recent activities. Thank you for lifting up men in Haiti and they follow Jesus and serve some of the most marginalized members of their community.
Each week, about 200 children from materially poor families attend Kid’s Club to worship, learn, play, and receive a meal. On Sunday, the Men’s Ministry team joined Vanessa (a Haitian member of Heartline’s staff who founded and leads this ministry) to lead worship, teach a Bible lesson, and serve food to the children. It was an amazing opportunity for the men to speak into the lives of these special kids and see how this ministry is growing.
On Monday, the outreach team had the opportunity to serve and encourage a beloved member of their community. Jocelene is a Haitian woman who is not able to walk. Recently, thieves broke a door to enter her home. The men visited Jocelene to pray with her, fix the broken door, cook a meal, and provide food.
Over the past year, the Men’s Ministry has formed a special relationship with a local orphanage for children with disabilities. They visit weekly to worship, pray, and play with the children and provide bread from Heartline’s Beltis Bakery. This visit was even more special! Cosmetology students from the Heartline Women’s Education Center joined the outreach team to help cut and style the children’s hair and give manicures. These kids have hearts of gold and their passionate worship is an inspiration to everyone at Heartline.
On Wednesday, the men spent the morning preparing bread for the weekly outreach to a local women’s prison. For the remainder of the day, the group worked hard on a very exciting project. Recently, a generous church partner donated funds for the group to record a worship CD! These men have touched many people with their musical gifts, and we look forward to seeing how this CD will further the reach of their ministry.
The Men’s Ministry has served faithfully at a boy’s prison for several years. They mentor the young men, lead worship and Bible study, and provide bread and water to the prison. On Friday, the group organized a special concert, which included performances from some of the incarcerated young men.
The team closed out the week by cooking and serving a meal (Haitian spaghetti!) for the bakery employees and property maintenance workers at Heartline’s OK Corral property.
“I thank God for each of you. Your support and prayers for these guys are so much appreciated. These young men are out there on the front lines in Haiti and having people that pray and intercede on their behalf will make them even more effective.”– John McHoul, Heartline Co-Founder and Men’s Ministry Program Director
