2nd Story Goods

The team at 2nd Story Goods believes you deserve to feel good about the stuff you buy. They understand how it feels to buy good things from the people who made them, the planet, and you.

Items we love from left to right: Bateau Earring, Book: From Aid to Trade, and Blue Bird Necklace.

Just one of the many things we love about 2nd Story Goods…

The team at 2nd Story features their team in ‘Maker Stories,’ a compilation of posts highlighting the craftspersons of 2nd Story Goods.

Deux Mains

Deux Mains is an ethical and sustainable fashion brand working to fight injustice in the fashion industry. The team at Deux Mains believes businesses can and should work to alleviate poverty by creating great jobs!

This year, we’re so excited about their ‘Together’ collection, which takes root in Haiti’s historical weaving culture, dating back hundreds of years.

Items we love from left to right: Tri-fold WalletBucket Bag, and All-Day Tote

Just one of the many things we love about Deux Mains…

Their unique ecosystem combines the support of their non-profit Rebuild Globally, which provides on-the-ground education, job training, and community development, with the for-profit Deux Mains, which offers local, sustainable, living-wage jobs.

Petite Palm

Petite Palm is a socially conscious lifestyle brand nestled under the Caribbean sun in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Their one-of-a-kind goods craft an opportunity for women to thrive. When you purchase their products, you choose to stand tall with them in the fight for justice.

We’re liking their line of diffuser products which offer different unique ways to enjoy essential oils! Check out these great new products!

Just one of the many things we love about Petite Palm…

Petite Palm partners with The Mama Zwazo Foundation to offer holistic support to employees and communities. Mama Zwazo seeks to renew hope, rebuild families, and restore justice alongside our artisan team. The Mama Zwazo Foundation focuses on holistic support in three key areas: mind, body, and soul. Their programs offer healthcare, maternity leave, educational support, improved emergency assistance, and leadership development.

Haiti Design Co

Haiti Design Co was founded in 2014 to bring about sustainable development through design, training, and job creation. Their mantra around the workshop is “Men anpil, chay pa lou.” This is an old Haitian proverb meaning, “Many hands make the load light.”

Items we love from left to right: Bone Pendant Necklace, Fabiola Earring and Milot Necklace Endless Summer.

Just one of the many things we love about Haiti Design Co…

They have global community dedicated to standing in to help fill the gaps for our artisan families. It’s called HDC FAM.

Providing holistic employment is a vital and dignified way to give sustainable support for families to, first and foremost, have the opportunity to stay together. They are firm believers that business reaches further than aid, they have also come to see that the vulnerable conditions their artisan families find themselves in can make it near impossible to rise above the odds. At times, individuals in the HDC community need further strategic support in order to find safety, health, and prosperity for their families.

Papillon Marketplace

Papillon means “Butterfly” in French. Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, and life. Papillon’s mission is orphan prevention through job creation.

Working at Papillon is more than just a job. Shelley and the team focus on fair and equitable wages, training and development, and a creative, friendly work environment!

Items we love from left to right: Large Blue-Green Tree of Life, Joy Mug, and Tree Nativity.

Just one of the many things we love about Papillon Marketplace…

Like Petite Palm, Papillon Marketplace is also located on Heartline’s Education and Employment Campus, making the move in early 2020.

As much as is possible, they source all of their supplies locally. Varnish, glue, paper, unprocessed clay, and raw metals are all purchased locally to further stimulate the Haitian economy and create more jobs.

Rosie’s Boutique

Rosie’s exists to promote job creation, Haitian goods, the companies and people behind the goods, and hopefully create more jobs as they grow. Rosie’s is currently purchasing from ten companies (always hoping and searching for this number to grow) that employ over 400 Haitians collectively. Each company they buy goods from believes and practices the same ethics they have:

  • Provide a fair, living wage to the artisan.
  • Empower and equip the artisan.
  • Educate people about the realities in Haiti.
  • Work to keep families together.

Just one of the many things we love about Rosies…

Their greeting cards are stitched and finished by a team of thirty women. The jobs created provide a fair, living wage, allowing the women to send their children to school and meet their most basic needs, such as food and clothing.

This year, more than ever, consider these trusted friends of Heartline in your holiday gift-giving!
